Oxford, MS

I did a “little” bit of traveling this summer of which I am very proud. I ventured forth out of my snug little bedroom and saw some things. One of the places I went was Oxford, Mississippi. The home of the Ole Miss Rebels! Well, it was beautiful ,of course, and I got to see my favorite cousin, Anna (Shhhh…don’t tell my other cousins). My best friend, Jane, and I were chauffeured around and shown the sights of Oxford by my cousin and her new husband, J.T. I even broke my dry Facebook hiatus to post pictures from the trip (something I rarely do). Enjoy what the good state of Mississippi has to offer (other than overly sweet tea)!

WXTD2187     Set the scene: 7 a.m. in the morning before I had my coffee and Jane wants to get a picture in front of the University of Mississippi sign. Sanity: exit stage left.

The endless selections (and this was just the cookbooks)!

Processed with VSCO with f2 preset Jane standing by a bookstore, under a “books” sign, holding a Square Books bag (I wonder what she does on the weekends?).

“Perhaps they were right putting love into books. Perhaps it could not live anywhere else.”

Despite the sweltering heat, we drank our (most definitely iced) coffee on the balcony of the bookstore. Ahhhh, the Square.
I didn’t have one those hand holding pictures, and I was too excited to walk gracefully (not that I do that anyway).

“It’s all now you see: tomorrow began yesterday and yesterday won’t be over until tomorrow.”                                                                                                                                       – William Faulkner

Of course we had to get one of those “pretend I’m reading and take a picture” snapshots. Don’t I almost look mature despite my unnaturally pale legs?
That’s it for this weekend trip! Please excuse my scantily edited pictures; if I really attacked these, I would do way more harm than good. Jane is most definitely the photographer of the pair; I think I’ll stick with writing. Between Rowan Oak, the Square, and the endless bookstores (Hallelujah!), we had an action packed weekend with Anna and J.T. Plus we ate at several great places, and who doesn’t love food (Am I right)? All in all, it was a great weekend with great people. Now you know there’s at least one place worth visiting in Mississippi. I’m just kidding (kinda).
